The Winston School of San Diego celebrated its 34th high school commencement on Wednesday, June 15, at its campus on 9th Street in Del Mar.

In its first graduation free of pandemic restrictions since 2019, the school honored one of its largest classes in recent memory. As Assistant Head of School Mary Sterling-Torretti shared, “The Class of 2022 demonstrated the flexibility and resilience to thrive despite COVID-19 reminding students that Winston will follow close behind you – at first literally, then in spirit. We will look after you, filled with hope, wishing you the best.”

This year, the Winston Hero award was presented to Michael Doria, Ph.D., LEP, program specialist, Carlsbad Unified School District, who reminded graduates that “You have persevered to make unique differences in the way you learn and see things, differences some might call a disability, into unique traits that have become your greatest strengths as you set forth to achieve your dreams.”
